This week I saw a wonderfully decorated minimalist/well designed/relaxed/patterned out accented house. It was so well done that I was convinced that it was staged- down to the picture perfect gallery wall which I wrongly assumed still had the photos that came in the frame! There were great printed pillows in chevron and ikat, beautifully framed prints throughout, a wonderfull gallery wall. If anyone is looking to move to a great 3 bedroom single family home in the West Chester Borough located a 15 minute walk to downtown- I think this one will go fast!!!!

8 homes under 400 sq feet

This photo is of a 200 Square foot apt. I’m fascinated by the way people can organize and decorate small spaces, and make them look so livable and stylish (a wide angle lens helps too!). Click on the photo to see Apartment Therapy’s top 8 homes under 400 Square feet. Very inspiring

Kelly Natatorium

Philadelphia Water works was in operation from 1812-1909, then became the Philadelphia Aquarium from 1911-1962, with a portion of the defunct Aquarium being converted by the Kelly Family (Grace Kelly’s family) to a 3 lane swimming pool which was used until 1972. It currently sits vacant and abandoned, but Bradley Maule of hiddencityphila.org has a kickstarter project to bring some new life into the space, while honoring its history. Anthropologie Tour

Curious what Anthropologie’s corporate offices look like? Not so corporate. Click the photo to take the tour

If you follow my instagram (sambrando), a few weeks ago I picked up mini glass terrariums at Target in the Dollar section. I finally made the trip out to Terrain at Styers to purchase some succulents (found 0 at Lowes & Home Depot). I originally had 3 terrariums, but broke one right before I started to build them, so I substituted a Mason jar I got at a wedding instead (the jars were the seating assignments & were also used for your drinks all night- fun times). 15 minutes later and these were finished! Rawr!

If you know me, you know I’m into the bright and quirky, and sometimes slightly weird things. I saw somethings similar to this posted on a blog awhile back and it made me smile. All you need is some spray paint, a dinosaur toy, and an air plant!

I’m not the most patient person so this is my T-Rex soaking up some sun, trying to dry off.

Airplants, contrary to what I thought before I googled them, do actually need to be soaked in water every week or so.

Once this guy has a permanent home, I’ll throw up a pic of him in his new surroundings.

I love this ground floor hang-out room in my friends Bridget & Kate’s row home off Fitler Square in Philadelphia on Croskey Street. It has been deemed the ‘Margarita Room’ and is right off their enclosed patio/garden (pics of that later!). They pulled the blue/green/yellows from the beautiful tiles that border the built in bench seating and the working wood burning fire place. Above the mantle hangs a vintage birds eye view of Philadelphia.

If you or your friends need helping finding a rental in or out of the city, let me know how I can help!

time capsule apt

Can you imagine fleeing your apartment to escape WWII and never returning? Continuing to pay your rent until the day you died? In 2010 when Marthe de Florian passed away in Southern France, it was discovered she also kept a city apartment that no one was aware of. When entered for the first time in 70 or so years, everything remained just as she had left it. Click on the photo from curbed.com for some amazing pictures and discoveries!

Paint can totally change the feel in a room without changing much else. It can even help give a home more curb appeal! Check out these before and afters of a home that is being listed by Cindy who is one of the partners who heads up my team. Red walls gave the bedroom a more modern look, and painting the outside of the home a dark sandy brown with black shutters brings an elevated class to the home that was formerly white with gray shutters. Do you agree that the afters look better?
