Customized Plates

I think plates with quirkly clean designs are fun- but are usually very $$$ when found at stores like Anthropologie. I found this DIY post on apartment therapy where they used porcelain paint pens to doodle designs on plates and planters. This would be super fun to do for a friends birthday or special occasion with their initials, lyrics etc. Now if only I had better handwriting……

Bar Carts

One of my friends has an empty little nook in his kitchen between where the built in cabinets end and the wall is. He is currently keeping his fully stocked bar in the corner of his counter top, taking up some prime real estate. I’ve been trying to keep my eye out for an affordable bar cart, but they all seem to be insanely expensive for what it is. I found these 10 great DIYs of various bar carts. This one, the boldest and brightest, had a former life of being a school AV cart- grey and dingy. I’m sure you remember these from back in grade school when they used to house the projector machine! Side table styling

Have you ever given any thought to ‘styling’ a table- whether it be side table, nightstand or coffee table? Check out interior designer Emily Henderson’s easy DIY side table paint job, and how you can transform the feel of the table by some simple styling.

Paint can totally change the feel in a room without changing much else. It can even help give a home more curb appeal! Check out these before and afters of a home that is being listed by Cindy who is one of the partners who heads up my team. Red walls gave the bedroom a more modern look, and painting the outside of the home a dark sandy brown with black shutters brings an elevated class to the home that was formerly white with gray shutters. Do you agree that the afters look better?

diy cord

Once again, apartmenttherapy.com does it again. I love myself some bright colors, and I hate ugly electric cords spouting all which ways out of the walls. This picture is an extreme version of covering cords on crack, but if you click the picture to the post, there are very easy ways (bright nylon string) to change ugly lamp cords, or guitar amp cords, into things of beauty!

Chain ReHAB!

Today’s rehab post comes courtesy of my friends Kate & Bridget. They wanted to replace their blah IKEA kitchen table and chairs, and Kate & her mom stumbled upon an incredible deal: a sturdy wood dining table (conveniently already painted white), THREE leaves (convenient for big dinner parties in their Philadelphia townhouse) and 6 chairs…….. for the UNREAL price of $85.

The dark striped seat covers didn’t jive with their color scheme, so Kate & her mom used some new foam, staples/glue, and tan & white pattern fabric to give the set new life and complement the wood work.
